Dancing The Dance
"Dancing The Dance" is a captivating and thought-provoking abstract adaptation that delves into the struggles of a man haunted by a recurring childhood memory. Seeking solace, he embarks on a journey of anonymous sexual encounters to numb the pain.
The genesis of this project emerged in the aftermath of my mother's passing in 2016. Over the years, I have meticulously crafted this script with valuable guidance from Asher Jelinsky, Darius Dawson, and insightful sessions through Sundance Co//ab programs, as well as meetings with John Cameron Mitchell.
Inspired by a visionary experience and drawing from Lee Strasberg's "The Private Moment" exercise, the production examines the profound human fear of failing to protect our loved ones. "Dancing the Dance" fearlessly explores themes of sexual abuse, abandonment, homosexuality, addiction, and the allure of escapism.
Prepare to be transported into a mesmerizing disco-infused sexual fever dream that will leave the audience nostalgically haunted.
Written and directed by Ed Norwood. Filming scheduled for Spring 2024.
